April is National Fair Housing Month, celebrating the 56th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act. This important legislation protects against housing discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability and familial status. It’s essential for owners, operators and property managers to embrace these laws, not just to steer clear of legal troubles but to help build warm and inclusive communities.
However, 2025 could see significant modifications to Fair Housing regulations as the federal government begins making sweeping changes to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Because of this shift, multifamily needs to utilize technology and an aggressive training program to keep its teams updated on current regulations.
