Substance Over Style: Social Media Trends

Not too long ago, social media was an avenue for users to display idealized lives. Curated pictures using flawless filters and perfect poses were the content goals for individuals and businesses alike. Recent trends, however, have led to a significant shift from promoting perfection to embracing authenticity — an important distinction when considering how the multifamily industry uses social media. As the social media universe evolves, users must adapt to the changes to communicate their messages effectively.

“User-generated content (UGC) is all the rage. The more authentic, the better,” said Stephanie Anderson, senior director of communications and social media at Grace Hill, a software development company. “Long gone are the days of perfectly situated and posed photos, but instead we see video and photos of actual renters living in their apartment community.”
