Zoning Key Focus in Urban Revitalization and Housing Development

To help address their respective housing crises and revitalize urban areas, metropolitan areas are taking a hard look at zoning regulations. Allowing for multifamily development in areas that were previously zoned for commercial space is increasing conversions, while bans on single-family zoning are helping to reduce sprawl. Minneapolis took this approach four years ago and has seen a 12% increase in stock, much of which is affordable housing.
